The Beaches and Beaches of Natal, Brazil

Located on the Northeastern tip of South America, Natal is the safest capital city in Brazil, and one of its top tourist destinations. With hundreds of miles of beaches perfect for sunbathing and surfing, this "City of the Sun" is famous for its relaxed, beach-centered lifestyle. The massive sand dunes surrounding Natal have recently become a major hub for a wide variety of exciting adventures, including such thrilling pursuits as buggy and camel rides, and for the even more adventurous, dune surfing.

Away from the beach this vibrant city has an attractive mix of historic and modern places of interest, including carefully restored colonial buildings, a Portuguese fort, and an impressive theater and cultural scene. In this beautiful resort town the traffic is light, the locals are friendly, and the sun shines for 10 hours a day, making it a perfect stop on any traveler's itinerary.

Natal Activities and Tours:

South Beach:
This sun-soaked day starts with a hotel pick-up for an excursion to the lovely beaches of the south coast, Cotovelo, Buzios and Tabatinga. At Pirangi do Norte beach we will embark on a two hour tour of the area by boat, and on the return trip we will visit the Cajueiro de Pirangi, the world's largest cashew tree. Optional lunch.

North Coast by Buggy:
Leave hotel by dune buggy to the fantastic beaches of the north coast, including Rendinha, and Genipabu for buggy tours of the dunes, Bana do Rio for rafting on the Ceara Mirim River, and Pitangui beach for a refreshing swim in the beautiful lagoon. Optional lunch.

City Tour:
Visit the historic center of Natal, where you will have the opportunity to visit local craft markets and artisans' shops. We will visit the historic Forte de Reis Magos, the ancient Cathedral of Natal, Government Palaces, and the urban beaches of Ponta Negra and Via Costeira.

Genipabu Beach:
Leave the hotel by van/bus to Genipabu beach. You will have the day free to explore this wonderful beach, home of the famous "moving dunes." Take a thrilling dune buggy ride across the dunes, or simply relax and enjoy the abundant sun, sand, and surf. Optional lunch.

Pipa Beach:
South of Natal is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Brazil, Pipa Beach, famous for its dramatic sea cliffs and deserted beaches. On the way we will visit a quaint fishing village, Tibau do Sul, and lovely Ponta do Madeiro beach where you can swim with the resident dolphins in the tranquil bay. Optional lunch.

Camurupim Beach:
Visit Camurupim beach, approximately one hour south of Natal. Spend the day relaxing at this beautiful family-friendly beach.

Folkloric Show:
This evening excursion is to Zas Tras, one of Natal's premier entertainment venues. Here you will be treated to an exciting spectacular featuring the electrifying music and dancing style typical of this region. After the show everyone is welcome to stay and continue the party, with dancing till the wee hours. Note: This excursion is also available with an optional dinner at one of Natal's finest restaurants before the show.
